The Hotel Where Dogs Sit and Stay

The pet industry, believe it or not, is second only to the entertainment industry in size in Los Angeles. Just walk down Melrose and see pooches with jeweled collars adorning their necks, being carried around in designer bags and drinking Pellegrino water. It should come as no surprise then, that when D Pet Hotels Hollywood opened as one of the most luxurious pet hotels on the West Coast, some thought it was for humans.
The hotel covers more than 14,000 square feet and contains three separate dog parks, a full gym and a spa that is entirely dedicated to the finest form of canine pampering. “The facility’s floors are non-permeable epoxy flooring, which is steamed and cleaned every day to get rid of any bacteria and to create a sterile, clean and pet-friendly environment,” says Bryan Cole, publicist for D Pet Hotels Hollywood.
Prior to admittance, every dog is screened with extra precaution for fleas and vaccinations and also evaluated for temperament and the ability to get along with other dogs. The dogs are then split up by size (pint, medium and large) and temperament, and placed in different rooms accordingly. All suites include an orthopedic bed and a flat-screen TV, with modern and contemporary décor in similar fashion to that of the W Hotel and The Standard.
As if that weren’t impressive enough, the services offered at the D Pet Hotels Hollywood “run the whole gamut,” Cole says, and include “treadmills for dogs, weight-loss programs, rehabilitation, training and even grooming.” And let it be known that a “standard grooming” doesn’t just mean a haircut, it also includes a body wrap, massages, and at the owner’s request, hair dye and even painted nails.
Although the hotel was intended to be a haven for LA’s finest pups, the hotel is also pleasing for the owners as well. The hotel caters mostly to celebrities, executives, studio heads and people who just really care for their pets. So when they have to travel abroad, they have a sense of security in knowing their dogs are in good hands. And whatever the client wants, the client gets, even if it means feeding the dog only Fiji water or picking up the dog in a Lamborghini or, sometimes, even a jet.
