Laura Sutnick
Managing Director, Nightdrive Productions and Music Director, WVUM 90.5 FM

Laura was born in Bogota, but lives for her new hometown of Miami. A student at the University of Miami, she is WVUM's secret weapon with her vast collection (and knowledge) of indie and house music, Italo disco, nu disco, Latin oldies and freestyle that she plays on her show, Vamos a La Playa.

DINING & NIGHTLIFE
“I'm a big fan of Buena Vista Bistro. The staff is always as pleasant as the food.”
“I guess you could say my culinary crush is Chef Boyardee.”
“Narcobollo in Doral is my source for soul food. Don't be dissuaded by the name.”
“Magnum has always been my favorite bar (I secretly love show tunes). Black Bar takes second place.”
“My favorite bartender is Nicky at Churchill's, for life. Love that guy.”

FASHION & DESIGN
“Mia Jewels in SoBe and Aventura Mall have really cute stuff.”
“Alvaro Ilizarbe aka Freegums' sub-culture artwear always blows my mind. He's come up with some really original apparel designs for many local acts and organizations.”
“NiBa Home has a nice arsenal of local designers and great pieces to make your home look snazzy.”
“For antique stores I love Glo. What other shop in Miami has an array of Bjørn Wiinblad trinkets and vintage Murano chandeliers?”

GROOMING & FITNESS
“I've been going to Ugo Di Roma forever to get my hair done. I get lots of love there.”
“Biking with gators in Shark Valley will definitely make you sweat.”

MUSIC, ART & CULTURE
“The New World Center (aka our new Frank Ghery building) seems to be Miami's new cultural landmark. I can't wait to see what they do for next year's Art Basel.”
“The Team Rojas boys kill it every time they touch the decks. I also love SmeeJay though — he's the original.”
“I can't decide between The Electric Pickle, Bardot, Grand Central and The Vagabond. All four have consistent great programming.”
“Miami is a staycation in itself.”
“Artist Jen Stark makes paper melt into rainbows, which dissapear into walls. Top that!”
“I'm a huge MiMo fan. Driving around Miami looking at old buildings is always a history lesson in Miami coolness.”
“I like when low-key nights end up involving either boating around Biscayne Bay or grilling burgers by the water.”
“Entresol is the best live band in Miami right now. Very danceable and different.”
