1. 2 Broke Girls

From the executive producers of 'Sex in the City' comes this new comedy about two waitresses scraping out a living in New York: Max (Kat Dennings), who has never had any money and also works as a nanny, and Caroline (Beth Behrs), an heiress who lost everything when her dad went Bernie Madoff and got locked up. 2. New Girl

Is there anyone cuter than Zooey Deschanel? In 'New Girl,' the preternaturally adorable and quirky actress plays Jess, a socially awkward girl who moves in with three bachelors after a particularly bad breakup. Hilarity ensues as the guys try to break her out of her funk and help her re-enter the dating scene. Premieres Tuesday, September 20 at 9 p.m. on Fox. 3. The X Factor

Simon Cowell returns to American television (with Paula Abdul in tow) after a two-year hiatus with an adaptation of the British smash-hit talent competition, 'The X Factor.' With the largest purse in TV history - $5 million in prize money - the biggest question is whether the show can live up to the hype. Premieres Wednesday, September 21 at 8 p.m. on Fox. 4. Prime Suspect

We know what you're thinking - not another cop show. But 'Prime Suspect' has some very good things going for it. First, it’s adapted from an award-winning British series that won Helen Mirren two Emmys for the starring role. Second, Maria Bello is stepping into that role, playing Detective Jane Timoney, a badass NYC cop fighting to prove herself in a male-dominated district. 5. Person of Interest

J.J. Abrams has partnered with Jonathan Nolan for this brain twister starring Michael Emerson (Ben from 'Lost') as a mysterious billionaire who has created a surveillance program that identifies people who will be involved in a future crime as either a victim or perpetrator. He uses Reese (Jim Caviezel), a former CIA agent, to stop the crimes from happening. Premieres Thursday, September 22 at 9 p.m. on CBS. 6. Pan Am and The Playboy Club

Miss 'Mad Men'? Yeah, so do we. Thankfully, this fall offers two new shows that flash back to the 1960s. 'Pan Am' stars Christina Ricci as a stewardess on the iconic airline, back in the days when flying was a glamorous occasion. 'The Playboy Club' follows the lives of the first Playboy Bunnies (including Maureen, played by Amber Heard) and the men in their lives. Both shows premiere Sunday, September 25 at 10 p.m. - 'Pan Am' on ABC and 'The Playboy Club' on NBC. Claire Danes returns to the small screen in this intense suspense thriller based on an Israeli series - and her character is nothing like Angela Chase. Carrie Anderson is a CIA officer who is suspicious of the intel that led to the rescue of a U.S. soldier 10 years after he went missing during the invasion of Baghdad. Is he a hero, or a terrorist? 8. American Horror Story

Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton star is this psychosexual horror mystery series from 'Glee' co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. 9. Hell On Wheels
