Underneath Jaime King’s man-melting exterior lies a bona fide geek girl. The 29-year-old actress — who’s best known for her dual roles as tragic twins Goldie and Wendy in the gritty, comic book-adaptation Sin City — is big on video games, comic books and movies that take place in galaxies far, far away. “I’ve always been into science fiction, genre films and that kind of thing,” says King, who also starred in the new Frank Miller film, The Spirit, this past December, and will reprise both roles in Sin City 2 (out in 2010).
The statuesque actress, who first rose to fame on the international fashion runways as a pre-pubescent model (she went on to do major campaigns for Revlon, among others), is also a budding writer who’s recently been creating her own parallel universes. She’s currently co-writing a screenplay that’s set to be produced by comic book icon-turned-filmmaker Miller, and is also collaborating on a science fiction comic book with Marc Andreyko, one of the creators of the cult comic series, Torso.
The Omaha, Neb., native is also a fledgling poet — and she’s working with a publisher on releasing her own book of verse. (“I don’t want to rush the release,” she says. “I want to make sure it’s good.”)
But King’s most in demand on the silver screen, with six movies scheduled to be released over the next year. Among them is The Pardon, where she portrays the first woman ever to be executed in Louisiana, and a remake of the cult slasher film, My Bloody Valentine — this time, in blood-curdling 3-D. “It’s awesome,” says King, who plays the lead character in the gore-fest. “I was just looking at reviews online and people are really freaking out about it. They’ve used all new technology — you still have 3-D glasses, but they’re not red and blue. You’re literally living and breathing inside the film. It’s so gorgeous and fluid.”
The actress also has a cameo in Fanboys, a comedy about die-hard Star Wars fans trying to steal an early copy of Episode I: The Phantom Menace from the Skywalker Ranch. The movie’s reverence of super fandom is right up her alley — and she clocks a scene or two with comedy king Seth Rogan.
Best of all, she got more than a screen credit out of Fanboys — the force was with King and director Kyle Newman, who began an on-set romance. “I first met him and thought, ‘Wow, this guy’s surprisingly handsome and young,’” she says.
The couple, who live in Beverly Hills, tied the knot in November. And when they’re not knee-deep in projects, they’re hiking LA’s canyons and playing with their Shiba Inus — a Japanese breed of dog that resembles a mini-Akita. “We have game nights and do Apple to Apple gaming, and we’re really into the Wii right now,” says King. “I like the Wii Fit penguin game where you balance on an ice pad.”
Despite her penchant for sorcerers and spaceships, the former top model also has a healthy fashion habit, and is partial to marquee brands, including Lanvin, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Rodarte and Jason Wu (when she’s home, she hits up boutiques Ten Over Six and Opening Ceremony).
Still, it’s King’s appearances in genre films — which capitalize on her Nordic goddess looks — that have made her the sex symbol of choice for every guy who was mocked by the hot girl for bringing Magic cards to school. Photos from her cover shoot for Maxim magazine last April, which saw the actress clad in various vampy get-ups, spread like wildfire around the Internet.
King takes the tongue wagging in stride. “I think of the [sexy] stuff more as part of the job,” she says. “I don’t particularly like traipsing around in fishnets and a body suit — I prefer to be in my husband’s pajamas.”

Absolutely loved Sin City, and Jaime King rocks. Sin City 2 should be out next year -- I've got high hopes, despite it being a sequel!
