H&M Collaborates with British Designer Matthew Williamson

H&M's tradition of bringing in guest designers includes fashion powerhouses like Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld and has proven to be a hit for the Swedish company.  This spring, they shall live up to their consumer's high expectations for exquisite yet affordable clothing when they bring in Matthew Williamson, creative director for Emilio Pucci, who will introduce his own collection. 

Williamson's style exploded into the London fashion scene in 1997 with a voguish and colorful collection modeled by Kate Moss, Helena Christensen and Jade Jagger.  He is known for combining Bohemian chic with bright colors and dreamy prints.  Creative adviser of H&M, Margareta van den Bosch, said they chose Williamson because of his great eye and for the way he works with prints and mixes them up in a new way, to produce a contemporary look with British style.  Williamson brings the look of a global traveler to his designs.

The artistic designer has made a name for himself among Hollywood's A- list, with fans like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Keira Knightley and seems to be just as inspired to work with H&M as they are with him, saying, "H&M is a pioneer in the fashion industry.  They were one of the first to create the concept of high fashion designer collaborations and I am proud to be apart of it."  The company will launch a women's collection by Williamson in select H&M stores beginning April 2009 and a summer collection for men and women released worldwide mid-May.  This will be the first of Williamson's designs for men.
