I’ve always been a huge fan of dancing, growing up a raver and all (yes, I did in deed dance with glowsticks), but it wasn’t until Paul Oakenfold’s set last Friday that I danced in Orange County to the point of being drenched with sweat. After the build-up and hype for the event that also coincided with our February Issue Release, I got to iLounge way past my planned 9:15 p.m. since the driver couldn’t find my address (even with GPS). Needless to say the first 30 minutes were a bit of a panic. However, after an incredible set by DJ Arash and a few Grey Goose and Red Bull cocktails, Paul Oakenfold took the stage. As a DJ with a career that spans three decades, become famous for his trance sets and brought Goa to the masses, his appearance in Orange County led to the most insane dance floor I’ve EVER witnessed in a local club here. I know some people didn’t make it in the door (or had the patience to wait in line since there was no guest list), the word “incredible” just doesn’t do the night justice.
