"American Idol No Longer America's Idol"?
It appears that American Idol is finally nearing the end of its run. Thank goodness. Am I the only one who is relieved? I quit watching after the first season, but apparently I'm not the only one who has stopped. Only 21.8 million people tuned in last Tuesday, which was the smallest Tuesday audience for the show in more than five years, according to Nielsen Media Research. In my opinion, "Idol" is like any other reality show. The first season is so innovative and intriguing, but after that it's just the same junk over and over again. Producers kick in to set up situations and stage drama, reappearing folks (i.e. Simon, Paula and Randy) forcibly exaggerate their characters, and everything that can be fixed, is. After seven seasons, it's about time you people stopped watching!
