Farmer Wants A Wife

Just when you thought reality dating shows (or Wednesday night television in general) couldn't get any worse, out comes "Farmer Wants a Wife" on the CW.

The name pretty much says it all. A 29-year-old third generation farmer in Missouri is looking for a the girl of his dreams. The catch is that all of the contestants are 'city girls,' many of whom have never set foot on a farm. Most of the hourlong episodes feature the girls doing farm chores in denim cutoffs and high heels, while squabbling over Matt the farmer.

Last week, a contestant who reminded me vaguely of Anna Nicole was sent home after seriously offending some of the (mostly senior) locals during a bingo game at the VFW by saying she likes 'old people.' Oops.

One of the few likeable contestants on the show is Kanisha, who seemed genuinely enthusiastic about catching chickens during the pilot episode.

I'm probably one of the two people who tune into this show and the reason I'm still watching it remains a mystery to me. It's more of a reminder that I need to either do something more productive at home or get the hell out.
