Toms Shoes began in May of '06 with a mission to provide every child who does not possess a pair of shoes, with a pair. He has given over 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina and 50,000 pairs in South Africa through the purchases of the customers. For Pair bought through tomshoes.com he gives a pair of shoes to a child in need. Toms plans for 2008 are to give 200,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world.
