Brett "the Jet", Really???

Brett "the Jet", Really???
Say it isn’t so Green Bay’s golden boy, Brett Favre has been officially traded to the New York Jets. How scandalous, no?! Coming out of retirement is one thing; willingly going over to the New York Jets is another! I hope “the Jet” knows how many fans he’s betrayed and devastated in the past few weeks; and I hope “the Jet” knows how his name will always be followed by a terrible hissing sound.

Sadly, for Green Bay fans Favre won’t be playing his old team this year. So Green Bay fans are only left with the hope of kicking his as* at Super Bowl XLIII. Well that’s if the Jets are lucky enough to get there. During the “coming out of retirement” negotiations Green Bay players were divided between bringing Favre back, and letting Aaron Rogers have his chance at the spotlight. But the one thing they did agree on was that they were ready for the negotiations to be over. Well they’re over, and Rogers will have his chance in the spotlight on August 11th, at 7:00pm vs. the Cincinnati Bengals in Green Bay’s first pre-season game on ESPN. This season will be the ultimate test of whether or not Green Bay ever needed Favre or if they always had the talent and were overshadowed by the former quarterback. Well all I have to say is, “Good riddance, Brett Favre and I hope you’re happy with yourself!”

The Spanish basketball team was photographed for an ad in a Spanish newspaper before the Olympics in Beijing looking slightly racist. The whole team was shown pulling back their eyes to make them more slanted. It makes me wonder if the Spanish team has maybe the worst PR agent working for them ever. Whose brilliant idea was that to run an ad for a freight company where they are clearly mocking people of Asian descent? Not exactly the best way to make yourself welcome into the country that’s hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Obama Has the Last Laugh

Obama’s right on McCain’s trail. Following McCain’s campaign video portraying the Illinois senator as a beloved celebrity, Obama fired back in his own campaign video labeling McCain as an embraced celebrity. Entitled “Embrace,” the latest advertisement accuses the Republican rival of being a celebrity in Washington. McCain’s campaign compares Obama to Paris Hilton, who’s more famous for nothing than for any real accomplishment. In Obama’s campaign, McCain is shown during a Saturday Night Live appearance. It also suggests that McCain is still a political maverick. Footage shows the Arizona Republican hob-knobbing with fellow lobbyists, aids and Mr. Bush himself. Who knew the term “celebrity” could be so offending?

Georgia situation continues to escalate

Georgia situation continues to escalate
Georgia might have made a huge strategic mistake thinking to be able to quickly take back the control of its province, South Ossetia, just under the eyes of Russia, deem the analysts specialized in Caucasia’s problems.

If this is right that Ossetia separatists backed up by Russia have first provoked Georgia’s attack, the latter still remains based on the wrong certainty of being capable of winning a Blitzkrieg victory over their enemy.

“Georgians have played their advantage and have lost,” considers Michael Denison, specialist of the Region in the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House. “This was not an unreasonable calculation to hope a quickly victory, but it turned out to be wrong.”

Georgia, whose several regions remain unsubdued, succeeded these last years in suppressing revolts on its ground, including in the Kodori Valley and in Adjara, without provoking any Russian reaction.
Georgia probably thought that, with Moscow’s change of direction and the beginning of the Olympic Games in Beijing, it could also get an easy success in South Ossetia with low losses.

Apparently, Georgians may have reckoned that one part of the population would run away toward North Ossetia (Russia’s property), whereas the other part would stay, solving right away the problem.
Unfortunately Russia responded, and even pretty much harshly… “ South Ossetia will never be integrated into Georgia. As it is, now they are looking at being a small outpost on the southern reaches of Russia,” said Russia’s prime minister Vladimir Poutine.

The man behind the “Theme Song of Shaft” was found dead at his home on Sunday morning. Isaac Hayes, who is an Oscar, and Grammy winner was found by his family lying in his basement next to a treadmill that was still running. According to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, Hayes seemed to have died from natural causes. However, the fact that they found his body lying next to a running treadmill may be proof that exhaustion might have resulted in fatal complications due to exercise. Isaac Hayes was a respected musician and actor including roles in movies like hustle and flow, and the voice of Chef on South Park. He will be greatly missed.

Newsflash: Your Child is FAT!

Newsflash: Your Child is FAT!
“Dear parents, we wanted to alert you that your child is seriously on the path to being ridiculously overweight.”
Schools across England will begin testing children’s BMI (Body Mass Index) to tackle the growing problem of obesity. Parents will be getting a letter telling stating their child’s health whether it’s underweight, healthy, overweight or VERY overweight. Some parents aren’t noticing that their child is overweight and for those who are clinically defined as obese take it as highly offensive. Dr. Colin Waine, Chairman of the National Obesity Forum said the term “obesity” can be insulting. "It does not have to be used in a judgmental or insulting way: if a child is obese then the parents should know that it’s obese,” Waine said. “ We must make parents know that the lifestyle of the family needs to be modified." Statistics from 2006 show that nearly a third of all children between the ages two and 15 are overweight or obese, it showed an increase of 11% from 1995. "This is a really serious problem," says Dr Waine. "We're in danger of producing a generation of children with a shorter life expectancy. We can't just say that's acceptable." I hope the U.S. starts something like this to inform that their little darlings are getting unattractively overweight. I seriously don’t want any more episodes of Maury with fat kids running around on stage with their mother’s crying because their kids keeps eating. Newsflash parents: stop feeding your kids ridiculously amounts of junk food…..moderation is key! Duh! Everyone wants their kids to be cute, fit and alive for a LONG time!

Phelps is golden

Phelps is golden
Looks like Michael Phelps is on his way to breaking Mark Spitz record for the most Olympic gold medals. Phelps has won two gold medals so far since the start of the Olympic Games. Spitz won seven gold medals at the 1972 Olympics in Munich and Phelps is aiming to go home with eight gold medals. The great athlete Phelps has his sights set on winning eight gold medals to break the record. Sadly, Aussie swimmer Ian Thorpe retired at the ripe age of 24 and didn’t compete in this year’s Olympics. It would have been a great battle against the two swimmers, being that I’m a huge fan of Thorpe and the Aussies. Well, the opening ceremony looked amazing and the bird nest looked beautiful. When I was in Beijing in 2006, the nest and the entire city was a huge construction zone, so it’s nice to see the unveiling with a $350 million ceremony.

Woman Cloned her Dead Dog

Woman Cloned her Dead Dog
A California woman went on the Today show to talked how a South Korean company has cloned her dead dog in the first successful commercial cloning of a canine. Her late pitbull, Booger, who died two years ago, saved her life when she was attacked by another dog and became her lifeline during her long recovery. The five cloned puppies were derived from her dead dog's tissue samples that she had stored back in 2006. She even sold her home to be able to pay the $50,000 fee for the process. She says God ‘knew I would be lost without him, so he sent me some more’. Well let me tell you all, this woman is a little crazy. If God wanted to send her some more he would have had her come across a stray dog on the street. This is science giving her more, not God. This to me is scary because how far will this go. I hope this doesn't become a trend.

L'Oreal has denied accustations that they lightened Beyonce Knowles skin tone in an ad. The company said that they would never do a thing like that because they highly value their relationship with Beyonce. Beyonce has been a spokeswoman for L'Oreal since 2001. A rep for Beyonce said that the singer would not make any further comments beyond the statements that L'Oreal has already made. Looks like the Beyonce-L'Oreal relationsip will remain strong despite these rumors.

Despite recent reports, Shia LaBeouf will not lose his left pinky due to his car crash on July 27. An unnamed source who works on the set of Shia's new Transformers movie, told Star Magazine that LaBeouf called producers telling them that he may have to lose his finger, which would cause some major problems for the film. But a rep for Shia has claimed that that story is a complete lie, however Star Magazine says that they stand by their story.

New Mystery 'Cosimc Ghost' Found In Space

New Mystery 'Cosimc Ghost' Found In Space
A Dutch amateur astronomer and primary school teacher has discovered a 'cosmic ghost' in space and what some are saying is going to represent a new class of astronomical object. The strange, gaseous object is green with a hole in the middle. The only thing astronomers know is that is contains gas and has no stars in it. Other then that, it's a complete mystery to astronomers. NASA will soon use the Hubble Telescope to get a better view, but it's pretty amazing that an amateur astronomer can make such a huge discovery with his ordinary equipment. It makes you realize how much is out there that we have no comprehension of.

Anderson Cooper Attacks the Lohans

Anderson Cooper Attacks the Lohans
Anderson Cooper made some pretty harsh remarks towards the Lohan family Monday, when guest-hosting on “Live with Regis & Kelly.” Apparently the Lohan family reality TV show became a topic for discussion, and Anderson only had negative things to say. After calling the show, “Living Lohan,” a “train wreck,” he went after Ali, the youngest Lohan daughter who is 14. He said that Ali looks as though she is 60, and mocked her singing career. The comments did not go over well with Dina and Michael Lohan who fired back at Anderson in OK! Magazine, calling him cruel and opinionated. Anderson did however clear up his comments by saying he only feels bad for the 14-year-old because she should not be on reality TV.

Miss Universe 2008 Loses Crown?

Should Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza loose her crown because of resurfacing topless photos? It looks as though the answer is no according to the president of the Miss Universe Organization. Dayana will be able to hold her title because the photos are said to have artistic merit, and are not scandalous in any way. Due to previous pageant scandals in 2006 when Miss USA, Tara Connor, was found using drugs and alcohol, the public was sure that the 2008 beauty queen would face just as must heat, but lucky for her the organization decided to go easy.
