Weekly Wednesdays
With Christmas a mere nine days away and Hanukkah already occurring, a shopping plan should be in full effect with holiday cards already in the mail. With so many places to shop in Orange County, it can be a bit overwhelming of where to start. However, there’s no competition when it comes to everything you need for everyone’s wish list at South Coast Plaza. We suggest you definitely check out Ted Baker (www.tedbaker.com) Barney’s Co-Op, Intermix, John Varvatos, Diesel and Miss Sixty -- all are having great sales on clothes -- as well as Fresh for candles and Sephora for any makeup needs.

For a great boutique, check out the new Project Habit (www.projecthabit) in Costa Mesa on Newport Boulevard. This Thursday the store is hosting the Project Habit Holiday Bash and Charity Event from 6 to 9 p.m.. Complete with DJs, cocktails, appetizers and sexy “Santa Helpers,” select items are 20 to 50 percent off. You can also feel good about dropping cash since 10 percent of all sales to benefit Orangewood Children’s Shelter.

As for tonight, grab your coats and head to the harbor for the kick off 101st Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. The parade starts off Bay Island at 6:30 p.m. and finishes at the same site at approximately 9:00 pm each evening. If you haven’t attended this event, it's something that should become part of your holiday ritual. Nothing like drinking some hot toddys and watching decorated yachts sail by. Of course if you can score a sail on a friend’s boat, it’s all the merrier. And one of the best places to watch the parade is the Balboa Bay Club & Resort (www.balboabayclub.com). The parade goes through Sunday, so mark at least one night on your calendar.

Another Thursday night option is the KUCI Nights at Yost Theater in Downtown Santa Ana. It’s an Electro Party with doors open at 8:00 p.m. Bands include Break the Circus, Speaker Junkies, Non-P and Electric Valentine -- all for $8.

You can also head to Santa Ana early for PROJECT, which runs Thursday through Sunday, 7 to 10 p.m. until December 26. Downtown Incorporated presents a play on visual perception with multiple projectors illuminating The Spurgeon Building façade. PROJECT is a spectacle of light and shadow, an artistic projection process that is being produced all across the European continent, with the Orange County debut in Downtown Santa Ana. Providing the sound track for this visual spectacle is Chris Alfaro, member of electronic outfit Free the Robots and co-owner of Santa Ana's The Crosby. We checked out this incredible spectacle two weekends ago and are obsessed

And one last thing, tune in to www.artrocks247.com for Art Rocks! Talk Show tonight between 7 and 8 p.m.. I’m giving a sneak peak of what’s going in the January Vanguard Issue and talking about upcoming 944 events -- my segment starts right at 7 p.m. but you can also download the podcast if you miss it.
