Description
Lead and facilitate the development of 944's internal and external web presences to expedite achievement of 944's strategic goals. Establishes, plans, directs and implements the market/growth plan, user interface standards, design guidelines.
Candidates should have previous consulting experience utilizing web analytics tools to create traffic, conversion and usage reports. A degree in business, marketing, communications, computer science or related field is preferred. Candidates must have the proven ability to get things done through existing production processes, as well as the vision/initiative to help establish new processes and improve existing ones with a meticulous attention to detail and for completing projects from end-to-end within aggressive timelines. Candidates must be highly adept at working in a dynamic environment, managing frequently changing priorities, working under tight schedules and balancing multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities. In addition, this person must possess excellent leadership, communication, presentation, negotiation and analytical and organizational skills along with the ability to work independently and as a team member.
Works collaboratively with 944's Editor-In-Chief, tech department, business units, design department, local managing editors, marketing team, content developers, and workgroups to determine and meet the company's web communication needs.
Works with the finance department to determine budget and resource allocations necessary to support web operations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Must have a portfolio of web sites you’ve managed the marketing/growth of - be able to back it up with growth stats
- Develop media partnerships to distribute site content
- Coordinate integration of site with social networks, blogs, and relevant online forums leveraging applications, widgets, and additional viral web 2.0 tools
- Identify and develop opportunities to create ability of user self-generated content
- Work with the 944 web team to manage SEO initiatives to optimize the site’s organic performance
- Manage site analytics system for tracking traffic metric’s user engagement and preparing periodic dashboard reports.
- Work with the managing editor to help guide the creative content development of the site and create content around seasonal topics, current affairs, etc in fashion entertainment lifestyle
- Work with the team on ad sales and targeted sponsorships
- Develop a plan and implementation for hitting traffic target of 20 million page views and minimum average number pages per visit of 5.
- Leverage existing Web Team, as well as members of the technology and design departments, to facilitate the development of 944's web presences.
- Working with business units such as the executive and marketing teams to develop forums for user representation, determine the business strategy for internal and external web sites.
- With VP of Technology, determines the strategy and direction for end-user web-content creation tools, as well as creates and maintains navigational and informational presentation standards.
- With the Editor in Chief, develops and communicates standards for web content development. Grow the web-authoring skills of 944 web authors. Directly supervises assistant multimedia producers, and works with them ensure that standards are met and that content is accurate and up-to-date and meets the business needs of 944.
- Ensures that web content and services are continually evaluated and enhanced through tools such as web-usage reports to web authors, end-user surveys and measurable goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's level education or equivalent, plus three or more years experience in graphic and web/information design, web development and technical project leadership.
- Proven ability in creative direction in the creation of quality web graphic design and web site architecture design for the web.
- Conversant in general with Macromedia, Adobe and Microsoft software, including web-based database access technologies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to work in a team environment in situations in which ambiguity and multiple priorities are likely.
- Excellent ability to write, speak and use images to clearly and persuasively communicate in technical and non-technical subjects with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capable of integrating technical skills and strategies with business needs analysis and strategic thinking about communication. Proven effectiveness and ease in a multicultural environment.
