944: How often do you use your passport? My passport picture is horrible! I’ve had my passport now for six months and haven’t used it yet. But I’ll be going to Paris in the fall, so I’m excited about that.

What’s in your suitcase? More like what isn’t in my suitcase! I recently went to Vegas and was told we were just going to go for the night. For the fi rst time in my life, I listened! We decided to stay, so while I was in the shower squeezing, like, 10 of those tiny shampoo and conditioner bottles, I was trying to think of a way to ask this girl I just met to let me borrow some of her clothes.

Do you prefer tropical vacations or winter ones? Tropical! There’s so much more to do. I love having a variety of swimsuits for my trips. The most recent ones I bought were from Victoria’s Secret and Juicy Couture, plus a really sexy animal print one-piece from Guess.

What one place have you always dreamed of visiting? Costa Rica. I’m more of a city girl, so I’m not too adventurous, but I would suck it up and try everything if I went there. I’d want to stay in a cabin or bungalow in the jungle. It would be amazing to visit the beaches, maybe go sailing, fishing and whatever else I could possibly do.

944: How was your last vacation? I went to Europe with my loving boyfriend, Perry. It was an amazing trip that started out with a few days in Paris. Then we fl ew to Venice, drinking a great Bordeaux and listening to the song “Glamorous” as our Air France fl ight jetted us over the Swiss Alps. The two of us visited all the main sites, stayed in incredible hotels and ate the most delicious meals, especially in Florence, where the bruschetta and ossobucco were like no other.

What do you usually pack? I love my jeans; favorites are Tavertini So, William Rast and Paige denim. Also, my Christian Dior black stilettos — I live in high heels! I also take Juicy Couture white sweats, a goanywhere black BCBG Max Azria dress, an all-white strapless Sky top and cozy Ed Hardy T-shirts. I love to shop, so when I travel, I end up in trouble because I am such an over packer. Even the time I went river rafting, I ended up on the Salmon River in Idaho with way too many clothes; all I really needed was my bathing suit and some SPF.

Are you a homebody or adventure traveler?
Both. I’m a Libra! I love snuggling up to watch a good movie at home, but I also love to jet-set.

944: Who was your favorite musician growing up and why? I loved Paula Abdul! At night, when my dad would tuck me in, I would always ask him to put my Paula Abdul cassette in so I could fall asleep listening to her. I went to my fi rst concert in the 7th grade. I saw No Doubt and Bush; I had the biggest crush on Gavin Rossdale.

944: Who do you listen to now and why? Mostly top 40 stuff — and anything that can get me goin’ at the gym. 944: Are you involved in the entertainment industry? I model here and there, but nothing too big — I live in Salt Lake City!

944: Do you have star power? Some days! But I like to keep a level head and keep things in perspective. My plans for the future are to get my degree in broadcast journalism. If my dreams come true, I will work for E! and be the next Giuliana Rancic.
Name: Dana Hamm
Occupation: Model/Actress
Hometown: Sanford, North Carolina

944: Who was your favorite musician growing up? 2Pac was my favorite! But I grew up listening to George Strait and country. One time, my friend got so drunk at a Clay Walker concert that we lost her. We found her passed out under the bleachers!

944: Who do you listen to now and why? Well, my CD player just jammed and won’t eject. It couldn’t handle Hannah Montana! Music is motivating and makes me feel good. I love to dance. 944: What’s your favorite aspect of entertainment? All the love from my supporters — and being featured in 944 Magazine! I’ve been modeling professionally for seven months now and I really enjoy it.

944: What are your plans for the future? I’ve been working on my star power and after this issue comes out I’ll have some more! My goal is to become a Victoria’s Secret model. I would also like to be in a real good movie.

How are you eco-friendly in your everyday life? I recycle used plastic, glass and paper, and I use energy efficient light bulbs that I buy at Whole Foods. Also, I try to cut down on energy use by turning off lights and computers as soon as I’m done using them. I use ecofriendly, bio-degradable products like dish and laundry detergent. Lastly, I try not to waste anything or buy things that I don’t need!

How organic is your diet? The only places I shop are Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. When I shop, instead of using plastic grocery bags I have reusable grocery bags. I was raised on organic foods. Both of my parents are vegetarian, which is hard because I’m Italian. I love to make organic chicken with lemon and spices! I think eating organic products is good for your skin, and hair and nails.

What do you do to be more “green?” More than just throw my empty can of ginger ale in the recycle bin! Although it really is that simple. When I’m home in LA, I opt for fluorescent lights and walk instead of drive whenever I can. I also live near a “green” gas station and always pump there. I’m not a wasteful person to begin with, so it’s easy.

How do you know so much about environmental issues? A couple of years ago, I was the winner of the Mr. Earth pageant. Luckily, at the time I was also a grad student at H arvard, where one of my elective subjects was the study of rainforests. I learned from my research that small, individual efforts from people all over the world can truly make a big difference. I recently returned from traveling to all six continents, and I discovered that some countries make recycling much easier than others. Japan gets it so right!

What Fashion Items can you not live without? My favorite pair of jeans are a must! I love Destroyed Denim. Their jeans are awesome and give me that rock 'n' roll style that I love. And don't forget the stilettos. Nothing is sexier than a hot pair of high heels. The higher the better. Other items I cannot live without are my Beverly Hills Pimps & Hos trucker hats. They are amazing and I have a collection of like 20 of them. I wear them everywhere.

What Fashion Items can you not live without? I’m such a sucker for trendy clothes, because they make me feel new and improved each season, but at the end of the day I always lean towards the classics. I have around 50 pairs of sunglasses, but Ray-Ban Aviators are a must. I absolutely dig handbags and a monogram Louis Vuitton will always be a mainstay for me. No one should live without several pairs of all-purpose black pants. They are the ultimate fashion cure. I live part-time in a cold climate, so I could not live without boots. I would wear them year round if my feet didn’t get so hot in the summer, especially my above-the-knee stilettos and my Uggs.
