Girls from the Penny Lane Families Foster Family Agency, celebrity dance choreographer Shane Sparks, celebrity singer/actress/dancer Christina Milian and volunteers from Westlake Village-based J.D. Power and Associates took part in a team building event at the Penny Lane Agency in North Hills. The event was designed to help the children work together, rely on one another, and offer one another their support.
Volunteers from J.D. Power and Associates, a business unit of The McGraw-Hill Companies, orchestrated a team dance competition, hosted and judged by Sparks and Milian. Sparks and Milian, both notable celebrities for their versatile dance talents, suprised the girls and taught them dance steps, emphasizing how they could cooperate with one another to maximize the dance’s potential and have fun. The girls competed for special prizes and enjoyed a lunch with the J.D. Power and Associates volunteers and the judges.
This activity was part of The McGraw-Hill Companies’ Global Volunteer Day program, a global community outreach initiative now in its fifth year. From May through June, more than 2,000 employees will participate in more than 100 volunteer projects throughout the United States and across the globe to make an impact in the communities where they live and work. J.D. Power and Associates’ volunteers will take part in a number of other community volunteer projects through May and June.
