Summary: On a beautiful Thursday evening, 350 guests from around the world attended the opening Gala for the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.
Honored guests included Pierre Berge, YSL muse Betty Catroux, Vogue Editor-at-large Hamish Bowles, Deeda Blair, Lynn Wyatt, Dodie Rosekrans, Danielle Steel, Laura Lendrum, (president of the YSL brand) and many other guests. Remarks were presented by John E. Buchanan, director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and Pierre Berge followed by a performance by opera singers Heidi Melton, Eugene Brancoveanu and their accompanist Lara Bolton.
The Yves Saint Laurent exhibition consists of 130 haute couture, fully accessorized garments representing the 40-year career of couture master, Yves Saint Laurent. The de Young is the only US venue for this show which runs through April 5, 2009
