944 MAGAZINE TAKES OVER W SCOTTSDALE FOR FOUR DAYS OF JAM-PACKED ENTERTAINMENT DURING ALL-STAR WEEKEND
NBA All-Stars Dwyane Wade, Amar'e Stoudemire and Akon Among Weekend Hosts; Common and Talib Kweli Perform on Verizon Wireless WET Deck at W Scottsdale
PHOENIX, Ariz. - In light of the highly awaited 2009 NBA All-Star Game, 944 magazine produced an unrivaled entertainment experience at the all-new W Scottsdale. From Thursday, February 12 through game day, February 15, 2009, 944 ALL-STAR WEEKEND offered four nights of nightly poolside concerts and indoor performances, celebrity meet and greets, fashion shows, listening lounges and a series of top-notch special events to fill the hotel four straight nights. Basketball greats Amar'e Stoudemire and Dwyane Wade hosted various evening parties joined by Grammy Award-nominated Akon, with live performances by Fabolous and Talib Kweli in the Cîroc Lounge. Two-time Grammy Award-winner Common performed to a sold-out crowd on the Verizon Wireless WET Deck at W Scottsdale.
The weekend's attendees include T.I., Chris Tucker, Eliza Dushku, Aubrey O'Day, Corbin Bleu, Keyshia Cole, Cedric the Entertainer, Jermaine Dupri, Tony Parker, Cash Warren, Terrell Owens, Rick Fox, Shaquille O'Neal and more.
In association with Powerade, Olympic athlete and 2009 NBA All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire hosted Thursday, February 12, in association with his personal cause, the Each One Teach One Foundation. Stoudemire graces the cover of 944's second-annual custom sports publication, GAME, which hit streets on February 9.
On Friday, February 13, American rapper Fabolous took the stage in the Cîroc Lounge, with DJ Jazzy Jeff playing nearby in the Living Room.
Olympic Gold Medalist and 5-Time NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade hosted Saturday night. Grammy Award-winning artist Common headlined the evening's entertainment on the Verizon Wireless WET deck at W Scottsdale. A series of fashion shows highlighted spring looks from several leading boutiques and salons. Rolf's Salon produced the "Beauty Evolution Fashion Show," followed by Moody Blues and Jacqie Swimwear.
The weekend culminated post-game on Sunday, February 15, with host Akon, and Latin duo Nina Sky and intelligent rapper Talib Kweli headlining the evening in the Verizon Wireless WET Deck at W Scottsdale. DJ Irie, official DJ of the Miami Heat, complemented the line-up on the turntables.
