944 MAGAZINE CELEBRATES EIGHT-YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN HOMETOWN OF PHOENIX, ARIZ.
944 to Blow Out Eight Birthday Candles with Thousands of its Closest Friends During a Three-Day Birthday Bash from August 28-30 at W Scottsdale
WHAT: 944 Magazine is celebrating its eighth anniversary in its hometown of Phoenix, Ariz. with "944 is 8," a three-day party at W Scottsdale (www.944.com/944is8). From August 28 to 30, 944 will takeover the hotel for three days and two nights of birthday shenanigans including live bands and DJ entertainment, a charity silent auction in partnership with Ear Candy and a daytime pool party. Expected to draw thousands of partygoers over the weekend, "944 is 8" will welcome underground talent like J*DaVey and DJ Yves Larock, with LA-based 4-man jam band, Kalakuta Republic and local favorites Pinky Ring DJs and DJ Brazilia.
To kick-off 944's birthday weekend, local painters and graphic artists Adam Dumper (AKA Dumperfoo) and Jim Mahfood - two artists who paved their way to the forefront of the live art movement in Arizona - will present a live art installation. Local performance group, Scandalesque, will add to the live entertainment with pop-up acts throughout the hotel.
The weekend's proceeds will benefit Ear Candy (www.earcandycharity.org) - a local non-profit music organization that strives to provide music education through support of in- and after-school music programs. On Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm, Ear Candy will host a silent auction highlighting such items as autographed Fender guitars from The Fray and Fall Out Boy, and a package from renowned pianist and keyboardist Chick Corea.
